Why Choose the Lyre?
Like a lot of people, you might be hesitate to learn a new instrument, or even a first instrument, because you think it’s time consuming.
You might think that anything that is easy to learn is not worth learning.
The lyre is the answer to both these concerns.
It is easy enough to learn in a sitting, but there are so many ways to play it, that it will always keep you growing and learning.
Why is the Lyre so Easy to Play?
Some of the reasons it is both easy and fascinating are:
- While it can be strummed like a guitar, there are no frets to learn, no calluses to contend with
- It can be played by people with both large hands or small hands
- It’s easy to learn without having to be able to read music
- There are many different methods of playing the lyre, so there’s always room to grow
If it is Easy to Play, Why Do so Few People Play It?
It has come and gone from countless cultures and societies, and now is one of the few instruments that is currently always made by hand (other than modern lyre harps).
In many cultures this was an instrument that was passed around after meals for everyone to play, from young children to adults.
I have made it my mission to educate people about the beauties of the lyre and how it can be played so that it will once again be played by people of all cultures, and everyone will once again have a way to invite music into their homes.
